At just 19 years of age Johan Salomon from Norway is the second-youngest player in our tournament, but as reigning Norwegian champion he provides another example of a meteoric ascent to Grandmaster status. He has already achieved two norms and could now gain the title by securing 6.5 points at Sastamala. His previous Grandmaster norms came last year at Barcelona with 7.5 out of 9 and this year at Gothenburg, where he finished with 6.5 points out of 9.
